An Abundant Life - Friends And Family

I've been thinking a lot about the ways that we learn and grow in different areas of our lives, and how important family and friends are to who and what we become. Each one of us is born with different wonderful gifts and talents, blessings from God that are unique to each individual person. Some of us grow up in nurturing environments, some of us do not, some have families that encourage our individuality and unique creativity and some do not. Even in the best of families there can be different tastes and points of view, and all of the messages we receive, good or not so good, supportive or not, have an effect on the way we learn to live our lives. The good news is that God wants each and every one of us to thrive in the way that we can thrive best, to grow and blossom and bear the best and sweetest fruit for ourselves and the world to enjoy. If our families were not able to provide that nurturing environment, or there was some lack or need that held back healthy creative growth, I want to encourage everyone to know that God will always provide friends and help meets to walk with us and give us those words and encouragement and inspiration that will light our path and help us on our way. We can choose the best and let go of the rest, giving thanks for the good that has been shared with us.

Nurturing Creativity

I met Penelope Brackett in 2007, when one of the performers I worked with gave me a birthday present of a ticket to one of Penelope's amazing networking brunches. Back in those days, life coaches and career coaches were running rampant, and though I appreciated the gift, I was expecting another run of the mill positive catch phrase afternoon. Don't get me wrong - those positive and affirmative quotes and expressions can help get me through the day, but I didn't expect anything more than just a feel good experience. Penelope is amazing, and that's just one high class word that comes to mind when I think of her. Full of energy and life and vitality, her love and compassion and supportive creative heart shine through in all she does. Five minutes with Penelope is worth a hundred workshops with anyone else - she looks each person in the eye with empathy and wisdom and begins a process that helps to open the flower that is budding and sometimes almost completely hidden within. Her networking brunches are always held in lovely places, reasonable in price with delicious food and wonderful atmospheres. And because of who Penelope is, the people she knows are all amazing and beautiful people, so the company is as delicious and wonderful and nourishing as the space. Things that I heard from Penelope at that first brunch years ago have informed my life up to the present, and every time I hear from her, even in an email newsletter, I know the words I'm hearing are helping me grow.

Blooming With Life

Across the Hudson River in Hoboken, there is a space that is blossoming and overflowing with vital and nourishing energy. Celebrate Life Studio had its grand opening yesterday, and the celebration of life was pouring out the doors into the streets. With classes for dance, singing, movement, art and creativity, children and adults have a space to work out and sing out and dance out and create, and celebrate and bloom and grow and thrive. I'll be writing more in depth about the amazing women behind this space, but for now, here's a taste of the delicious adventure awaiting you at Celebrate Life.
